This book was on everyone's list for the summer. Without really know what it was about, I jumped on the bandwagon and put it on hold. Weeks later, I got it and dove right in.
I lost a lot of sleep over this novel. I literally read until I fell asleep and woke up with my light on and a book beside me.

Gone Girl is about a couple who, to the outside world, seem like the perfect couple. Nick and Amy move from New York to Missouri five years after their wedding. Shortly after their move, Amy disappears in the middle of the day.
Is Amy alive? Dead? Was she kidnapped? By whom?
Nick doesn't have an alibi.
The book alternates between Nick in the present day and Amy's diary of the events leading up to her disappearance. Both tell about their relationship from the time they met until the day she disappeared.
Amy's diary gives you the background and the reason she is who she is and why she act the way she does. Then, half way through the book, the plot does a 180 flip.
Now you don't know who to think or what to believe. At this point, you think Ms. Flynn either needs committed or is a genius.
As the novel progresses, more and more evidence points to Nick. Nick won't say where he was when Amy disappeared. Finally, Nick hires the best attorney that he can, but an arrest is coming soon.
In the second half of the novel, you'll learn that Amy and Nick weren't as perfect as they seem. One of them has a secret and is capable of so much more than you could ever imagine.
