In my family, it's a tradition to make a ham for Christmas. I actually make it for Christmas Eve then eat leftovers on Christmas Day.
I make a big breakfast for Christmas morning, and I'm just tired in the evenings. I spent years doing it all to make Christmas magical, and I wore myself out.
So now I make a big dinner for Christmas Eve. Ham is perfect because we can eat it hot the first night and then use leftover in cold sandwiches or heat it up.
This is a pretty easy recipe. I almost always have the ingredients on hand, except maybe the apple cider cranberry sauce. I make a double batch of that the day before and we eat it as a side dish and use it to glaze this ham.
Cranberry Glazed Ham
This isn't just a Thanksgiving or Christmas dish; we enjoy this apple cranberry glazed ham recipe all year. I can pick up hams for around $1 a pound, which makes it an inexpensive meal.
All five of us eat ham. Besides pizza, it's the only main meal that all of us will eat.
I usually serve a glazed spiral cooked ham with mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, and rolls.
How to Cook a Spiral Sliced Ham
I love spiral sliced ham because it's inexpensive, tastes great, and it's already cooked. They are also very easy to cut and quick to get on the table.
Make sure you look for a ham that is fully cooked or precooked. This will make it a lot easier for you to cook it at home.
How Long to Cook a Spiral Cut Ham
Since the ham is already precooked, you just need to heat it up. You want to cook it for 10-15 minutes per pound. It needs to hit 140 degrees.
Cranberry Sauce
I've used both canned whole cranberry sauce and my homemade apple cider cranberry sauce recipe. I like it made both ways, but homemade is always better in my opinion.
