Easy ways to make your house smell like Christmas with essential oils. These simple DIYs will make your home smell great this holiday season. Use them when you are entertaining to set the mood.
I like having a nice smelling house. Back in the day, I make wax melts and candles and used those to make my home smell good. With three people with allergies and asthma, I've had to switch to essential oils to make my house smell good.
I change the scents through the year. In the summer, I use a lot of fruity scents. Now that it's almost Christmas, I'm using winter scents like cinnamon, peppermint, other mints, and earthy essential oils.
Using a diffuser is probably the easiest way to use essential oils to make your house smell like Christmas, but that's not the only way. I found the best essential oil DIYs and recipes to make and use for a great smelling house.
I use my diffuser the most and also wax melts. I will make a simmer pot if I'm going to be home all day, but I usually have to run a kid here or there at least once during the day.
Easy Ways to Make Your House Smell Like Christmas With Essential Oils
What is the Smell of Christmas?
The smell of Christmas is probably different for each person. The smell of cookies baking and of a ham baking smell like Christmas to me, but I don't think I wanted a baked ham scented candle.
When I'm thinking of Christmas scents, this is what I have in mind:
- Pine or evergreens
- Chocolate
- Gingerbread
- Fireplace
- Cinnamon
- Cloves
- Orange
- Cranberries
- Apples
Essential Oils
Before we start with all of the different ways to make your house smell like Christmas, let's talk about essential oils.
I use Crafty Bubbles/Right Note essential oils (they are rebranding, so you'll see both labels in photos here). I've been using them for over 10 years.
They just released several sets of essential oil and natural fragrance oil blends that I am in love with. Many artificial fragrance oils bother my asthma, but I've been diffusing these natural blends with no problems.
The Holiday Favorites has:

Diffuser
Using a diffuser with essential oils is the easiest way to make your house smell like Christmas. This is how I use oils to make my house smell good most of the time.
I use a basic URPOWER essential oil diffuser. I like it because it lights up, so I don't forget to turn it off. I actually have two of them because I like it so much.
You can use one of the blends I mentioned above or create your own. Pink Fortitude has five great Christmas diffuser blends and Natural Living Ideas has 10 Christmas essential oil blends to try and A Home to Grow in has 25 must have Christmas essential oil blends.
If you're using a lot blends, I recommend cleaning your diffuser often so they don't smell off. Learn how to clean an essential oil diffuser without vinegar.

Room sprays are another easy way to make your home smell like Christmas. Some essential oils can discolor fabrics, so I never recommend using them on a couch or chair.
