How to Make Pumpkin Cider
Pumpkin spice or apple cider?
Now you don't have to choose. You can use both pumpkin and apple in this pumpkin spice cider. Pumpkin apple cider is like apple cider, but it kicks it up a notch with extra spices and pumpkin puree.
I like to make the best pumpkin cider in a slow cooker. However, you can also make it on the stove.
The stove top version is much quicker, but I think making a pumpkin cider recipe in a slow cooker gives the fall drink a more complex flavor.

Is Pumpkin Cider a Thing?
Yes, pumpkin apple cider is most definitely a thing! It's not as popular as apple cider, but it's definitely a delicious fall drink idea for a crowd.
It has real pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, and apple cider. It really don't get more fall than that.
Pumpkin Puree for Pumpkin Apple Cider
Make sure you use real pumpkin puree when you make pumpkin pie cider. Don't use pie filling because it has extra spices.
I make my own Instant Pot pumpkin puree. I used to dislike processing my pumpkins, but it's so much easier with the pressure cooker.
Homemade pumpkin puree has more water than canned pumpkin puree. It is fine to make a pumpkin cider recipe because it's a drink and shouldn't be too thick anyway.
How to Make Spiked Pumpkin Cider
To make a spiked pumpkin spice cider, you simply add your choice of alcohol after you cook the recipe in the slow cooker or on the stove.
I recommend adding about 1 cup of alcohol to this pumpkin cider recipe. You can add less if you want to. You can also make the pumpkin cider non alcoholic and add 1/2 to 1 ounce per cup.
Try using one of the following for spiked pumpkin apple cider:
- Rum
- Bourbon
- Vodka (vanilla or caramel flavors would be good)
- Tequila

Try one of the following variations when you make your pumpkin pie cider:
- Use pear juice instead of pumpkin puree.
