Looking for simple Christmas breakfast ideas? Try these Grinch cinnamon rolls. They used canned cinnamon rolls and store bought icing, so you can make them quickly for breakfast Christmas morning or any time.
Grinch Breakfast Ideas: Cinnamon Rolls
When my kids were little, I started a tradition of making cinnamon rolls for easy Christmas breakfast ideas. I could pop them in the oven between opening gifts, and I could still spend time with my kids.
I've also made an egg casserole and this easy French toast casserole recipe. Some years I've also made cinnamon rolls and then we ate the casseroles for lunch. For non themed cinnamon rolls, try these TikTok cinnamon rolls with heavy cream.
My daughter really likes the Grinch movie, so I wanted to make some Grinch themed snacks. These Grinch cinnamon rolls are very easy to make, and I know the kids will love them for Christmas morning.

How to Bake Grinch Cinnamon Rolls
You can follow the directions on the tube to bake your Grinch Christmas treats, or you can air fry them.
Personally, I like the air fryer because it's quicker and uses less electricity. Breads and bread type foods do really well in the air fryer, too.
To air fry, preheat to 350 degrees F and air fry for 6 to 8 minutes.
Grinch Cinnamon Roll Variations
Although these Grinch Christmas treats are pretty easy to make, here are a few variations that you can make:
- You don't need to make the heart shape. You can make a circle and use green icing and the red heart.
- I bought icing because it's thicker than what you get in the packets with the cinnamon rolls. You can dye that green with food coloring, but it will be thinner and won't cover as well.
- You can also make your own cream cheese frosting or your favorite frosting flavor.
- Add some jelly or fruit to the cinnamon rolls. Unroll them, add jelly or fruit, then roll them again.

Grinch Cinnamon Roll Ingredients
Here's what you need for simple Christmas breakfast ideas with cinnamon rolls.
Cinnamon Rolls - I grabbed some from Walmart, but Aldi has some really good ones. I prefer the Aldi ones over name brand. Use your favorite brand.
Green Icing - You can make your own the night before if desired. If you want easy Christmas breakfast ideas, then grab the premade green frosting.
Heart Sprinkles - This is what makes these Grinch Christmas treats instead of just green cinnamon rolls. I buy heart sprinkles and use them for Grinch themed food and for Valentine's Day.
How to Make Grinch Cinnamon Rolls
Step #1
Preheat your oven or air fryer to 350 degrees or follow the directions on the cinnamon rolls you bought.
Step #2
Carefully unroll each cinnamon roll into a long strip of dough. Coil the unrolled end of each strip into the center to make two equal coils. Pull middle of strip down to make a point and pinch, forming a heart.
Step #3
Place the cinnamon rolls on a cookie sheet or air fryer tray. Bake as directed on the can in the oven or for 6 to 8 minutes in an air fryer.
If baking in the oven, space them apart so they have room to expand.
Step #4
Let cool for just a few minutes and frost with the green icing. Place a heart sprinkle on each cinnamon roll.
Enjoy! I hope you enjoy these Grinch Christmas treats!
