What is a Pomegranate Mimosa Recipe?
This Christmas mimosa is easy to make with just three ingredients plus garnishes. The garnishes are optional, but they look pretty.
You will need:
- Pomegranate juice - For best results use 100% pomegranate juice and not one with added sugar.
- Orange juice - You can use your favorite orange juice or Aperol. Aperol is an Italian bitter with flavors of citrus, vanilla, and herbs It tastes good in Christmas mimosa recipes, but orange juice is a decent substitute.
- Sparking wine - You can use your favorite sparkling wine or champagne.
Pomegranate Juice for Pomegranate Orange Mimosa Recipe
You'll want to use 100 percent pomegranate juice to make this Christmas mimosa. Look for a bottle that only lists the juice as the ingredient with no added sugars.
Pom Wonderful is probably the easiest to find in most grocery stores. My store has it with the fresh fruits and vegetables and not in the juice aisle.
You can also make your own pomegranate juice. You'll need two pomegranates to make one glass of pomegranate orange mimosa.
Best Alcohol for Pomegranate Mimosa Recipe
I used a chamanage to make my Christmas mimosa. Traditionally, mimosa are made with champagne. However, you don't have to use champagne.
Here are some more options to use:
- Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine. It is a bit sweeter than champagne, so keep that in mine. It has a more complex flavor with fruits like lemon, pear, and apple.
- Champagne is traditionally used because it's bubbly and has some orange notes that complement the pomegranate and orange well. Champagne is the most expensive sparkling wine,
- Cava is a Spanish sparkling wine. It isn't as sweet or fruity as Prosecco or champagne, but it does have some citrus flavor.
You don't need a really expensive bottle of sparkling wine. I've made mimosas with cheap sparkling wine, and they were just fine.
